pizza is great. Everytime I get off the subway I eat there. The people are very nice and since I look young there is a student special.

Excellent, authentic Italian pizza... slightly off the Bedford Ave. beaten path
by duffman33 at Citysearch
This is always my first choice for pizza off the Bedford L. The joint is run by a nice Italian family and the pizza is far superior to the more popular Anna Maria's. Get the "Grandma's Pie." It's absolutely delicious - pesto, cheese and a light sprinkling of tomato sauce on crispy, flavorful crust. Their heroes are pretty good too. Pros: Great pizza; always less crowded than the mob scene a block away

Since 1968 this small Williamsburg restaurant has been serving pizza, heroes, pasta, salads and more.

Great pizza and heros, without the variety and selection of that star wars-style canteena hipster crowd pizzeria on Bedford (Anna Maria's) but with 5X the flavor. All the slices at Anna Maria's taste the same, no matter how many inane toppings they pile on it. Driggs has real Brooklyn pizza and behind the counter is the requisite Italian football club team pictures and whatnot. That's almost enough to prove its legitimacy to me, but eating there, both for a quick slice and sit-down for pasta with my family has always been a delicious, inexpensive and fun experience. That's the real proof.

Great food with a great man behind it, Antonio is the nicest guy who always comes out to greet his customers and say hello and thank you. The entres are fantastic, feel like I am back in Palermo. The pizza is "forget about it!!!!!!!" This does beat any pizza I have.

Good Pizza! The guys running the joint are super awesome. It's nice to see an establishment that really cares about the people who eat there. So friendly so sweet. The pizza is always light and never too greasy.

I'm writing a review in support of the local guys in Williamsburg who've been there forever and have always been nice to me. Those Grandma slices are full of garlic (for better or worse). I happen to love them.

Grandma's Pizza. I love it. On more than one occasion, I have ordered an entire pie on Saturday morning and refused to share it with anyone, eating it for every meal up through that final sweet, sweet slice for breakfast on Monday morning. It's not "cheap," I think it's like $24 or something, but it's worth it every time. I've never once regretted ordering it. Ever.
I sometimes grab a slice too, which is equally good and you can request a corner slice if you're into those. There's also a nice little eat in area in the back. That's the "ITALIAN RESTAURANT" part of this place. They also sell beer and are close to the L. The people who work here are also very friendly as long as you have some idea of how to order pizza at a pizza place, you should have no trouble at all.
Also, they do take credit cards, at least on the Grandma's delivery, but there may be a minimum.

To be honest, I've only ever eaten the Drigg's Grandma's pizza. That said, it's one of the best Grandma's pies I've ever had. It's very filling, and a bit too oily, but man is it tasty!

I get off the Bedford L stop every day from work, and there are many times that I drop into Driggs Pizza for a slice. I like the price ($2 for a plain slice), and there's a cozy little seating area in the back if you don't feel like eating on the go. I can't say much about the specialty slices, since I never get them, but the plain slices are just fine and decent sized.
It's a smaller, cleaner shop than what you'll find over on Bedford Ave. They're not open very late, but it's a solid choice for when you want a slice and don't feel like dealing with the huge visitor crowds on Bedford.

I think this beats Vinnies in value and taste. I recommend the driggs pizza special with pesto, marinara, mozzarella, and eggplant. The ingredients look and taste good and you will be stuffed after one slice. I'm definitely going back.

When I order delivery this is the place to get it from. The cheese and pepperoni pizzas are great and all but the real treasure here is the Caprese Pizza. It's loaded with mozzarella, fresh basil and tomatoes, garlic and everything that is beautiful in this world. It almost brings a tear to my eye.
It's not the best pizza in NYC but it is definitely in the top 5 for me.

After thrifting through Williamsburg, Kevin L. had a hankering for a slice and yelp led us to Drigg's. It's a grab-and-go sort of pizza joint but there are a few tables in the back. There was a sweet older gentleman handling all the orders up front and handling the heating up of the slices.
The pizza was very good - the pizza dough was crispy which you could hear as I bit into it. The sauce was no t as sweet as I like. The highlight of my meal was the garlic knots that Kevin ordered. I've never had them before but what can possibly go wrong with warm carbs smothered in butter and garlic? Pretty darn tasty. The garlic flavor was present but not overwhelming. The bread was toasty. It always the little things like garlic knots that make my day.
Great for a quick bite and conveniently located by one of the entrances to the L train

Garlic knots = utter win. Cheap, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and just lightly garlicky. I couldn't tell whether the flavoring was garlic cooked into the dough, or garlic powder in the dough... or what. It didn't appear to be seasoning on the knot itself, it was definitely infused into the substance of each starchy bite. Mmm.
My grandma slice was reasonably priced at $3.00, reheated briefly in the pizza oven, and handed over to me by the most genial, polite fellow. Like many a good pizza, this slice was covered lightly with cheese, pesto, and smashed/stewed(?) tomatoes. The few minutes back in the pizza oven undoubtedly re-crisped the bottom, rendering a delightful crunch with each bite.
For the price ($3) and the time (5 minutes) invested, this was a worthy afternoon snack in between a huge breakfast of noodle soup and dumplings, and a lardtastic dinner at Otto. The prime pop-in-pop-out location right across from the F train doesn't hurt, either. Ah, BK by-the-slice, you continue to satisfy. Right on.
Matt E. New York, NY 9/23/2009 3 stars = for the pizza place.
4 stars = for the tiny restaurant in the back.
Tucked away in the back, usually ignored by anyone waiting for the bus or not from the neighborhood are a few tables and a little exposed brick wall. It's not elaborate but you can choose from their huge array of Italian dishes. Lots of pasta and seafood choices around 10 dollars.
As for the pizza, its alright. Some slices seem a bit too expensive, others are just right. The staff is actually very polite and attentive so respect for that. Depending on what you get it can be very satisfying or a bit underwhelming. Unlike Anna Maria's slices they aren't just piles of toppings on a flopper and it does taste like they use better ingredients.

In short: delicious and conveniently located near Brooklyn Brewery
I stopped here on my way to Brooklyn Brewery based on the other reviews, and I was pretty happy with the choice (thanks Yelp community). Not much to say here that hasn't been said before. Get the grandma and grandpa slices, my friends loved them. A single slice was very filling so it's a great deal as well.
I'd be interested in trying one of their whole pizzas, but we didn't have the people at the time.
Also, if you're going to Brooklyn Brewery, you should know that Driggs delivers to the Brewery so just make one stop and enjoy your beer with pizza.
Grandma slices are my fave. For a New York pizza joint, this place is a touch above da regular places I've been to.
My Doctor wants me to get my cholesterol down. Shhh...don't tell him I'm eatin' at Driggs!

PASTA FAZOOL (Fagioli ? )
Get a large one and share it with a pal.
This is the best macaroni and bean soup you will ever have.
I weep at its beauty. Even you silly vegetarians can have it.
IT IS THE BEST BEST BEST.

3/2/2006 Conveniently located at the Bedford L stop, this pizzaria is just outside the Driggs Ave./ North 7th St. Exit from the station. You can get pizza by the slice with over 6 pizzas in the window to choose from. "Grandpa's" is my favorite with diced fresh tomatos, garlic and tomato sauce. It's lite on the cheese and heavy on the garlic. It's also got a spicy kick to it!
All the pizzas here are on a great crust and the place is always packed just after the high school down the street lets out. The garlic knots are popular with the kids since they're so cheap and tasty. A full menu of pastas is available but I haven't had a chance to explore it yet.

12/2/2006 Good slices, and a small sit-down section that actually serves beer. This may become the new weekend beer & pizza spot of choice.
Now I don't have to walk all the way to Vinnie's for a good slice of Brooklyn style pie..

Driggs Pizza was highly recommended by a good friend who lived in Williamsburg for nearly three years, and I pretty much trusted his palate.
Naturally, I had to visit the place because 1) They have the coolest looking owners, Vito and Tony. 2) Of course, my friend recommended it. and 3) Ah, we were already in the neighborhood, so why the fuck not?!
The slice was tasty and not too over the top. It was simple pepperoni. It's not as good as Nino's on St. Marks Place but it's better than any other pizza joint out here in Los Angeles.
My friend says that it's all about timing because I mentioned that I caught Vito standing outside, which according to my friend, means that the pizza was made hours ago. Had Vito been inside, which indicates the freshness of the pizza, the taste would've been better.
Either way, I enjoyed it, and I would've given it five stars had I not tasted Nino's.

7/12/2007 Driggs is a five-star pizza joint, no question about it. Their pizza is god-damned excellent, and priced very reasonably. Nick always gets cheese, which is a good meal for 2 slices/$4, but I can exist on one $3 slice of something "heartier", like my personal favorite, the eggplant norma (eggplant, ricotta, and of course the essentially perfect crust). Damned amazing. Also try the grandpa, capresa, or eggplant special. I've likewise heard that the regular food is well worth it and cheap to boot, but I haven't independently verified this.
The one thing about driggs that's tough is that they close at 9:30 or 10:30 on fri/sat. If only they left the doors open a few more hours, they could kill anna maria!

My first order of slices Driggs wasn't very good, but I thought they deserved another shot after having trouble finding decent pizza in the neighborhood that doesn't cost an arm and a leg or is overly complicated (Fornino). I'm glad I came back. The full pies are very tasty with doughy crust and rich tomato sauce. They are also unusually large, enough to feed three hungry people, and reheat very well.
My rating might rise from 4 to 5 stars if their pizzas are as consistently good in the long term as they have been so far.

I got delivery of a very big grandfather's pie today. At first bite i was a bit disappointing cuz the pizza was a bit cold. But the ingredients felt so fresh that i didnt care. Best pizza for garlic lovers... Was like a garlic bomb with fresh diced tomatoes and pesto and a hint of spicy something. It was good but i agree that we dont have an awesome pizza place in williamsburg.

3/12/2008 When you're in NY, you have to have pizza. I don't care if you are on a diet (diets don't work...we all get fat once we hit 25 anyways) or if you are lactose. That being said, we walked into Drigg's demanding to try the best pizza Williamsburg has to offer. Did we get the best pizza in Williamsburg? Sure. We haven't tried other pizza joints around, but having had a slice of the grandma slice, my taste buds made an executive decision that I, in fact, tasted the best pizza Williamburg has to offer. How in the world can a pizza with no meat at all taste so good? If all vegetarian dishes tasted like the grandma slice, I can give up meat for life.

Yum.
I've been going here for about 14 years now. Best pizza in the neighborhood (try the Grandma's), tasty pasta (especially penne alla vodka), such good pasta e fagioli, fresh salads, etc. Nice people and quick delivery.

Eggplant Norma
While it isn't the most healthy place in town, if you want a yummy slice of pizza, that is huge for $3 bucks, Driggs is where it's at. It's not open late, and their pies are pricey, but when you've had a long day and don't want to cook, you step off the Bedford L and into Driggs. The pizza is amazing! Dinner for $3. I highly recommend the eggplant norma, huge slice with eggplant and ricotta cheese. I will warn you, it's so good you'll end up there the day after you go grocery shopping!

Best slice
This place is just fantastic. I'm always so pleased with any slice I order. I'm a big fan of the Grandpa and Bruschetta slices. It's a perfect dinner when I'm coming home late from work, or on the way out for the evening. The different specialty pizzas have varied crusts which is nice - Bruschetta is fluffier and the Grandpa is much crispier. They have a way with fresh tomato on their pizzas. Yum! It's also a nice place to sit down and eat.

Fantastic!!
This is probably the best pizza place in town. Though the atmosphere isn't perfect, it doesn't have to be, because it's a TAKE OUT! Great pizza, great people, I recommend it highly!

the best REAL italian food
If you are looking to go to Italy anytime soon just for the food it self there is no need cause Driggs is the Italy away from Italy. The food is beyond believable. The place it self stands for the 2 F's which are Family and Food and that is the best combination and ingredints 2 making the best meal. There pizza is out of this world the best in America and the pasta dishes are like no other.Im telling everyone that if you dont try this place you are REALLY missing out on something that you have been craving for life . Every meal on the menu is better than the other. I believe that anyone who walks into this tratoria will make it a family tradition to eat there. This is certainly is a place that needs to be around for genarations to come

Driggs Pizza is definitely in the Top 10 best pizza joints of NYC. Really great - when I ordered delivery, it arrived piping hot. Yummy mozzarella. Can't recommend it enough.

One of the best tasting pizza joints
Driggs Pizza might very well have the best tasting pizza Williamsburg has to offer. The seating might be a little cramped, but the service is definitely above average.

MORE THAN JUST PIZZA
THe pizza is about average, sandwiches are very good. The hot food excells. Large portions made to order. Service is very good. Take out is fairly quick. Dont let the yuppies scare you off.....they need quality food too.

Holy Grandma
The Grandma slice here is like the pizza of your dreams! Also try the Grandpa slice if you ike lots of fresh garlic. All the slices are great though. Best Pizza in Williamsburg for sure!!

Hope this place lasts!
With Joe's Busy Corner across the street selling out recently, it makes me thankful that we still have this place. Its just as good for a bowl of gnocchi and a glass of house red as it is for a slice of the garlic-laden Grandpa pizza. Just avoid it when school lets out- the place is overrun with hungry students hoping to grab their slice before the bus shows up...

Absolutely delicious grandma pies to be had here. I don't ever get anything else. It's that good!

Good pizza
Driggs makes anna maria's look substandard most of the time. There might be a competition on specialty slices, but only because driggs doesn't keep too many different pies out. When you order a whole pie Driggs is excellent-- the grandma's pie might be my favorite in the neighborhood. they make nice broccoli rabe as well.

Get off of the L train at the Drigg's exit when coming to Bedford and get your slices here. Sooooo much better.
